Cairncross & Hempelmann is committed to a firm culture of diversity that reflects the many communities in which we belong and practice. We strive to enable and encourage everyone in our firm to draw upon their unique experiences and backgrounds to help us thrive and deliver excellence to our clients.

We foster diversity at every level within our firm through a variety of ways. We seek diverse employees at all times when hiring for staff and attorney positions. Each summer we offer a Diversity Fellowship with a $7,500 stipend for one second-year law student. We have been fortunate to have our four previous Fellows join us as full-time attorneys, with a fifth to begin in the spring of 2014.

We support our diverse attorneys by paying their minority bar association dues, attendance at local and national conferences, and, in general, by supporting the local minority bars through event sponsorships. We believe these organizations offer an important resource to all minority attorneys in our community, and we are honored to support them financially. In addition, we provide administrative support and firm resources for our attorneys who take on leadership positions within the minority bar associations.

As a firm, we make a concerted effort to tackle topics of diversity internally, and, with the help of our Diversity Team we put on a variety of all-firm diversity events, including performances, small group discussions, and informative brown bags.
