Cairncross & Hempelmann Diversity Fellowship Program
In an effort to further support and increase the diversity represented in our firm, as well as the legal community as a whole, we began offering a $7,500 fellowship in conjunction with a summer associate position to one second year law student in 2007. This fellowship is paid directly to the student’s law school at the beginning of their third year to help defray tuition costs. Since we instituted the fellowship, we have offered it every year and have welcomed back each of our fellows as practicing attorneys upon their graduation from law school.
Students are encouraged to apply who will be in their second year of law school during the 2015-16 school year, are in good standing at any ABA accredited law school and will contribute to the diversity of our firm. We are looking for law students who can dedicate themselves to a 10-12 week summer associate position with the firm and are ultimately committed to practicing law in Seattle for the long term. High academic achievement is important, and membership on law review or Moot Court Honor Board is definitely a plus. We are also interested in participation in and dedication to community- and diversity-related activities.

- Personal statement (1-2 pages) describing achievements and eligibility for program
- Current law school transcript
- Legal writing sample
- List of three or more references (professional and/or academic)
