John advises businesses and individuals on bankruptcy and commercial law matters, with a focus on Chapter 11 reorganization. He has represented debtors, debtors in possession, and Chapter 11 trustees, but also creditors' committees, secured lenders, landlords, suppliers, service providers, and licensors of intellectual property.
John served as the judicial law clerk to Judge Peter J. Walsh of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware in 1997-1998. He is admitted to practice in Delaware, Idaho, and Washington, and has also appeared on a case-by-case basis in courts from Alaska to Florida.
John is the Vice-Chair of the E-Commerce and Technology-Oriented Bankruptcies Subcommittee of the Business Section of the American Bar Association, and the Chair of the Bankruptcy Committee for the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Washington. As adjunct faculty at Seattle University School of Law from 2000 to 2002, he taught Real Estate Drafting. He has given several presentations regarding the interplay of real estate and bankruptcy law. In addition, John has been consistently recognized as a "Rising Star" by Washington Law & Politics magazine.
