'MEETS' Explained: MEETS Accelerator Coalition Releases Videos Explaining Metered Energy Efficiency Transaction Structure
September 18, 2018 posted by Eric Christensen
CH& Energy and Environmental Law attorney Eric Christensen presents the latest news from the MEETS Accelerator Coalition. Pioneered here in Seattle, the innovative Metered Energy Efficiency Transaction Structure (“MEETS”) allows commercial building owners to profit from deep energy efficiency retrofits undertaken in their buildings, while advancing energy conservation and providing new opportunities for financiers and energy management companies.
The City of Seattle has now adopted legislation authorizing Seattle City Light to enter into MEETS contracts with up to 30 commercial building owners. Just in time for the ramp-up of that program, the MEETS Accelerator Coalition has released videos that explain in simple terms the MEETS structure and its benefits in as MEETS. The videos include one explaining MEETS in general terms, plus videos explaining the benefits of MEETS from the perspective of commercial building owners and of utilities. The MEETS Accelerator Coalition is also offering webinars for utility professionals on September 27, for commercial building owners on October 1, and for general audiences on October 4.
