Jeff Nelson will moderate the Who is the Author? AI and Beats/Timbre-driven Sound Recording Compositions panel during the New Music Ecosystem on May 4, 2018 at the KEXP Gathering Space. Panel members include Joe Bennett, Berklee College of Music; Richard Busch, King & Ballow Entertainment Law; Franck Macrez, University of Strasbourg/CEIPI; and Count, Producer.
University of Washington, KEXP, and Washington Lawyers for the Arts have organized a day and a half conference of musicians, lawyers, business leaders, and government officials to discuss the challenges and work towards policies supporting vibrant local music ecosystems.

- Demonstrations of new music instruments and technologies such as the “encephalophone”—the first instrument controlled solely by brain waves
- Expert panels discussing current hot topics in copyright—including AI and legislation pending in Congress—and trademark in the wake of the Tam/Slants decision, with Simon Tam participating
