Washington State Liquor Control Board to Auction Off Remaining Inventory on November 1

On Thursday, the Washington State Liquor Control Board (“WSLCB”) will sell its remaining inventory at a live auction to be held at its distribution center on East Marginal Way.  In a reminder email circulated yesterday, the Board provided the following details about the auction:  

Date and Time November 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
 
Location WSLCB Distribution Center, 4401 East Marginal Way, Seattle
 
Registration 8:00 a.m.
 
Bidders Prospective bidders must be a licensed Spirits Retailer, Spirits Distributor, and/or Spirits/Beer/Wine Restaurant licensee who is currently in good financial standing with the WSLCB. Temporary Pre-approval Permit (TPP) holders may also participate.
 
Bid Deposit Bring a $5,000 cashier’s check for bid deposit on the day of the auction.
 
Auction Items 138 pallets of mixed alcohol products including 10 high-value/low-quantity pallets, 5 mini-bottle pallets and 8 pallets of pints.
 
Taxes Liter and spirit sales taxes will be applied to all spirits sold to on-premises licensees.
 

Qualifications   To participate in the auction, prospective bidders must meet certain requirements:

  • Licensed Entity.  Prospective bidders must be a licensed Spirits Retailer, Spirits Distributor, and/or Spirits/Beer/Wine Restaurant licensee who is currently in good financial standing with the WSLCB. Temporary Pre-approval Permit (TPP) holders may also participate.
  • Current License. Each prospective bidder must provide a copy of its license or TPP on the day of the auction for verification.
  • Valid ID. A prospective bidder representative  must provide valid identification that he or she is at least 21 years of age. Since the auction will be taking place on the “factory floor,” the WSLCB encourages participants to dress appropriately.
  • Cashier’s Check. Lastly, prospective bidders will need to bring a $5,000 cashier’s check to serve as the bid deposit. The WSLCB will not accept cash or credit card.
