Srikant Mikkilineni

Attorney

Srikant is a member of our firm’s dynamic Corporate Law practice group.  He is an experienced, registered patent attorney, an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional in U.S. Law, and a Certified Information Privacy Manager.  His practice focuses on privacy, technology, and intellectual property law.

With his extensive knowledge, Srikant advises clients, from startup stage to established companies, on Internet law matters (including privacy notice provisions), XaaS terms of service, EULAs, domain name matters (including UDRP matters), cybersecurity, information security, data security, privacy law matters (including GDPR and CCPA compliance requirements), and privacy program implementation.  He also has experience advising clients in breach response and compliance matters.  Srikant further advises clients with respect to intellectual property licensing, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets.  By taking the time to understand the needs of his clients, he is able to provide sound advice on how to best manage client patent portfolios and to help build a competitive advantage for clients through strategic patent protection in the U.S. and abroad.

Srikant works hard to advise clients on other intellectual property issues as well, including patent application prosecution, foreign patentability issues, Inter Partes Reviews, and Ex Parte Reexaminations.  He also provides expertise related to technology, intellectual property, and privacy in the context of mergers and acquisitions, financing, and litigation.

Srikant regularly speaks at conferences, seminars, and training sessions on topics related to Internet, technology, and intellectual property law matters, such as legal issues pertaining to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies, privacy law concerns and compliance, the Internet of Things, the “Gig” economy, real-time payment systems, data security, cybersecurity, and data breach response and policy best practices.

Experience & Results

  • Represented health organization in HIPAA security incident response and compliance with OCR data requests.
  • Advised clients with respect to privacy policy implementation and compliance requirements, including breach response requirements and data security best practices (at rest and in transit).
  • Advised startup client with respect to bring your own device employee technology use policies in compliance with data security and privacy requirements as well as IP ownership strategies.
  • Advised clients with respect to technology transactions, including software licensing, Uniform Domain Dispute Resolution process negotiations, and software as a service as well as ADA Section 508 website compliance requirements.
  • Advised clients on all aspects of patent portfolio management, including patent assignment, patent licensing, and patent protection strategies both within the U.S. and abroad.
  • Represented clean energy startup with respect to patent portfolio strategy and management as well as drafting and prosecuting U.S., PCT, and other foreign patent applications to issuance.
  • Advised clients with respect to identifying, drafting, and prosecuting U.S., PCT, and other foreign patent and trademark applications.
  • Represented client through Ex Parte Reexamination at USPTO.
  • Advised client with respect to color mark enforcement and infringement litigation matters and strategies.
  • Advised clients with respect to IP portfolio management, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and/or trade secrets.
