Srikant Mikkilineni

Attorney

Srikant is a member of our firm’s dynamic Corporate Law practice group and is an IAPP Certified Privacy Law Specialist. Srikant helps clients navigate the highly-nuanced law surrounding technology, privacy and security, and intellectual property, communicating concepts so his clients are empowered to make informed decisions. Srikant advises and counsels clients on technology transactions and related agreements, including privacy notices, XaaS terms of service, and software EULAs, as well as contracts that are related to technology development and procurement. He brings specialized expertise in information security, privacy, and related regulatory issues regarding data collection, storage, and transfer. Srikant also counsels clients in protecting and commercializing their ideas and intellectual property. He assists with enforcement strategies, licensing, and monetization of clients’ brands and content.

Srikant has been a tinkerer from an early age and he built his first computer when he was only six years old. This passion has translated into his legal career as he dives head-first into complex legal issues, identifying the obstacles that need to be overcome and providing solutions that allow the entity to function smoothly again. Srikant is actively involved in the Privacy field and is certified by the IAPP as a CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, an ISO-recognized “GDPR-Ready” Privacy Professional, and an ABA-recognized Privacy Law Specialist. As a leader in his field, Srikant regularly speaks at conferences, seminars, and training sessions on development in topics related to Internet, technology, and intellectual property law matters.

Experience & Results

  • Represented health organization in HIPAA security incident responses and compliance with OCR data requests.
  • Advised retail/consumer-facing clients with respect to privacy policy implementation and compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), including breach response requirements and data security best practices (at rest and in transit).
  • Advised real-estate startup client with respect to bring your own device employee technology use policies in compliance with data security and privacy requirements as well as IP ownership strategies.
  • Advised manufacturing client with respect to technology transactions, including software licensing, UDRP process negotiations, global trademark enforcement programs through US CBP and similar global organizations, as well as ADA Section 508 website compliance requirements.
  • Advised quasi-municipal entity in security breach incident and compliance with state data breach notification requirements and worked with PR firm and other stakeholders in entity with respect to public messaging of breach.
  • Advised client with respect to color mark enforcement and infringement litigation matters and strategies.
  • Advised clients on all aspects of patent portfolio management, including patent assignment, patent licensing, and patent protection strategies both within the US and abroad.
  • Advised clients with respect to IP portfolio management, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and/or trade secrets.
