Ana-Maria Popp Selected to Lead Cairncross & Hempelmann
Cairncross & Hempelmann is pleased to announce that Ana-Maria Popp has been named the firm’s new Managing Partner. Ana-Maria succeeds Matt Hanna, who served as Managing Partner since 2015 and has completed his term.
“It’s been an honor leading the firm for the last 8½ years, and Ana-Maria is the perfect person to take over as managing partner,” says Matt. “She has all the vision, skills, and leadership necessary to support our position as the pre-eminent full-service law firm in the Puget Sound region.”
Ana-Maria’s practice focuses on construction litigation, real estate litigation including real estate finance, corporate and partnership disputes, and insurance coverage litigation for policy holders. She represents clients in complex cases through all aspects of the litigation process, from risk evaluation to case and settlement strategy, discovery and trial.
Ana-Maria was the Chair of the CH& Litigation Group from 2017 to 2023. In addition to providing clients with excellent legal representation, she guided the group with business development, mentoring, recruiting, diversity and administrative initiatives and provided leadership at all levels.
Ana-Maria is a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only, peer-selected honorary society of top trial lawyers in America. She is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, an honorary society of judges, law faculty and legal scholars who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and to the welfare of their communities. Ana-Maria has served on the board of “MAMA Seattle” (Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association of Seattle). She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in Commercial Litigation, has been named as a Washington Rising Star, and is listed on the Washington Super Lawyers list by Super Lawyers® Magazine since 2020.
Ana-Maria was born in Romania and came to the United States in 1992. She earned her B.A. degree and J.D. from the University of Washington.
