On May 21, 2019, Governor Inslee signed the recently passed Washington State Senate Bill 5998 (“SB 5998”), which will impose new rates and rules for real estate excise taxes (“REET”) in Washington State beginning January 1, 2020.
The Washington State Legislature has passed a new Bill that restricts noncompete agreements. The Engrossed Substitute House Bill 1450 (“ESHB 1450” or the “Noncompete Bill”), ratified by Governor Inslee on May 8, 2019, places new parameters on noncompete agreements. The law will go into effect on January 1, 2020.
Representing Dick’s Drive-In and a coalition of property owners, CH& attorney John Hempelmann attended the recent Sound Transit Board meeting which voted 15-2 in favor of removing the Kent Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) properties, including Dick’s Drive-In, from sites to be studied for the 30-acre Operations and Maintenance Facility.
